The European Broadcasting Union is postponing the 3rd running of the Eurovision Dance Contest, which is to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan in the autumn of 2010. Despite impressive preparatory work by Host Broadcaster Ictimai Television and its partners in Azerbaijan, the number of broadcasters that signed up for participation did not reach the desired level. The EBU and its partners aim at organising a new format to make an editorially more attractive and financially more sustainable production next year, featuring a larger number of participants. The postponement also gives EBU Members the opportunity to conduct longer and improved selection processes.

As previously announced, the Azerbaijani capital Baku will be transformed into the dancing center of Europe, hosting the 3rd Eurovision Dance Contest later this year.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Eurovision TV are proud to announce that the third Eurovision Dance Contest (EDC) will take place in September this year at the Heydar Aliev Sports and Concert Complex (SCC) in Baku, Azerbaijan.

After half a year of speculations, the BBC announced officially that Sir Terry Wogan (70) is stepping down as commentator of the Eurovision Song Contest. He will be replaced by Norton Graham (45). The two-times Eurovision Dance Contest host denied rumours earlier this week, but the BBC confirmed the news this morning.
